Just missed the 18-55 on ebay for around $100. Anyone on here selling theirs?

Price is a huge factor, and the 18-55 will do what I need it for.

    bump

Looks like the 18-55's are going for around $100 on ebay with shipping. Maybe a bit more with filters. Not sure about the 18-70's.

    Tamron 28-75 > Nikon 18-70 > Nikon 18-55

If you get the 18-55 then you will hate it. The 18-70 is passable but the best bang for your buck in that midrange zoom is the 28-75. :bigthumb:

If you get the 18-55 you should just sell the body then jump infront of a bus or train because you are cheating yourself out of any chance of producing a quality photograph.

I'm trying to find the part of my post where I asked for an opinion. Hrm...still looking...

I'm looking for something wide and cheap. The 18-55 is fine for me.

Just telling you what you didn't want to hear but should understand before you throw your $100 away. If you purchased a DSLR body to take snapshots I am sure you will be pleased with the 18-55.

I bought my D70 to learn more about photography, and as my skills and budget increase, I'll make purchases accordingly. I could buy a $1200 lens right now and my pictures would still suck. Know what I mean? If I came on this site with $3,000 worth of gear but no photography skills, I'd get chastised. And now when I'm trying to do the right thing and get some beginner glass to learn the hobby, you offer up your opinion. You guys need to sit down and figure out what kind of asses you want to be. Oh, and one last stupid edit: the 18-55 is better than the shitty 35-70 my D70 came with.

And Tedrzz, I'm honestly not sure what the 18-70's are going for. Any ideas? Let me poke around on ebay.

I bought an 18-70 for my gf used for about $230 but that was 3 years ago. They are probably around $200 now. Still great buy.
