Does anyone know where I can buy a Larue Poboy Special? Looks like the website ran out of them...
He's making tactical sandwiches now?? Can I combine it with my CMMG tactical bacon?!
You can get the Hensoldt from cheaper than dirt for about $25. Instructions are on arfcom to remove the ranging reticles and gas purge it for reassembly.
From there, you just need the Larue 649 mount with 30mm-1" spacers.
cool thanks. ill look for the arfcom instructions, but if you have them handy do you mind posting them up? does the gas purge stuff take a lot of equipement? i havent really got any fancy stuff (basic tools and stuff) thanks for your help. and that tactical bacon is the bomb.com
link to instructions?
any WMDer out there want to sell me one?
link to which larue mount is needed for this?
i think its the larue 649 and you have to request the spacers for the magnifier. you have to call in the order i believe. also, i would do that cheaper than dirt option, but i cant nitrogen/CO2 purge my optic after
Thanks for the links guys.
You don't need anything fancy. Gas purging/pressurizing isn't much more than ensuring that no oxygen is in said space when you close it up again.
Ghetto way to do it is to just get a hunk of dry ice and warm gloves. Let the ice smoke in the bottom of a bucket and reassemble the lenses at the bottom, in the gas cloud.
It would be awesome if we could get a $5 replacement reticule to put inside. At $14 I'm tempted to buy a couple and break out the magic marker
could we put a small tiny chunk of dry ice inside the body of the hensoldt magnifier and let it sublimate and then reinstall the lens?
I would buy some dry ice, toss it in the bottom of an ice chest or tupperware then screw everything back together. It should be slightly heavier than the surrounding air so you should be able to get a decent purge.
You'd have to leave the lense loose and gradually tighten it as the gas leaked out and displaced the air and it'd have to displace the air fast enough with that small amount of CO2 to prevent the reintroduction of O2.
I'd stick with the bucket method.
sounds great, thanks guys.
ill probably do this next week. ill post pics when i do.... now to find a larue mount.
what will happen if you don't purge all the O2?
edit: found a po boy special for 100 bucks so... no pics. sorry.
wtf am I looking at here
