I'm looking to get into photography. I'm just starting out, and need something basic and entry level. I don't know if $250 is too low, but if you are looking to unload one let me know. I need body and lens.

So what do you have that you want to get rid of? I'd like to do a little research on the rigs you guys are willing to part with, so let me know model names and prices. Thanks guys!

    way too low bro]

cheapest "decent" lens you can get is probably the 50 1.8, which is $80 or so, leaving you <$200 for a body?

You mean, digital cameras are alot more intricate and more technologically advanced then a film camera?

save up, that's not enough. I sold my xti for $450 and that's pretty much as entry level as you can get.

You are being extremely cheap, and you are not going to get a body lens combo for less than 300 without somethign being completely fucked.

he can get an older canon d30 or d60. or maybe even a 10d or Classic Digital Rebel .

However, you might run into some problems when you go gallivanting with it as it will be an 6+ year old camera.

save your monies, for 100-150 more you can get a decent 20d or even maybe a cosmetically challenged 30d.

I think you should just save your money and study technique. You'll end up saving money in the long run rather than buying a crap camera and selling it right away.

eh, it doesnt sound like you would be spending money on extra glass any time soon, so id suggest just getting a p&s with manual controls, a canon a590IS would be good for you, and can probably find em on sale for $100, otherwise about $130-$150 or so?

I was gonna suggest getting a nice point and shoot as well. You can practise composing shots, editing, basically everything except really neat DoF stuff that p&s cameras don't typically do well.

Low but I wouldn't say way too low. I've seen some 20Ds + kit lens go for around 300, lol.

I went ahead and picked up a basic point and shoot and will learn the basics with manual controls. I guess by the time I know what I'm doing (the basics), I'll probably have save enough to by an SLR. Thanks again for the advice guys.

I picked up a canon SD800 IS for $70, in case anyone was wondering. Craigslist FTW. So i'll save for a decent slr!
