One of my very close friend's grandparents' house was broken into while they were home...The assholes break in and beat up both grandparents and stole everything in the fucking house...
Both of the grandparents are the nicest people you will ever meet... The grandma takes care of her husband since he has been in and out of surgeries left and right... She works and takes care of him and they live in a nice little house and bother nobody... Mind their own business and just help out whoever they can...

Now guys I need a few ideas/suggestions on what we can put in their house for HD... Let's here them...

A big dog and an alarm system would probably be the best choices for them, depending how old they are.

That seriously makes me sick, I really hope they break into the wrong person's house, get shot, then bleed out in a AIDs infested gutter somewhere.

alarm, dog, good locks on doors and windows, motion sensor security lights outside the house, 9mm AR w/ red dot sight (easier to shoot than a pistol, less recoil than a shotgun, good home defense gun for people who are not going to get a lot of practice.)

Then when the idiots come back, the lights alert the dog, the dog corners them in the house, and grandma sends them to hell from the bedroom doorway.

+1 to the housing fortifications and a dog.

A gun certainly isn't a bad idea, but alarms, lights, and barking dogs go a long way into keeping people away.

I'd vote dog. Big dog. Beyond that, motion lights and maybe an alarm (if they'll actually us it).

Dog for sho. I dont know if giving old people with no firearm experience a gun would be a good idea.

I'm going to side with the majority here, make it harder to break into the house, get a big dog (look into retired police dogs or police school drop outs, they generally have most commands down and will be formidable)

I might suggest simple tools like mace as well, possibly the foam kind good enough for closer quarters and less likely to contaminate yourself. As for weaponry itself, I would hesitate to recommend a gun unless one/both of them are comfortable with a gun, have used a gun before and can practice with it. After all someone has to maintain the weapon as well as be able to hit a target with it.

If they are its personal preference if a 380 pistol is all the can handle then 380 it is, if they can handle a 12 ga then a 12 ga is it (in the 12 ga I love auto-5/remington model 11 with a rubber butt pad very little felt recoil, strcitly speaking for home defence I rely on a pump action.)

Sounds like they need a telephone. That's all you really need, the police do the rest.
