I was going to buy my grip and sb-900 today but bought a 14-24 instead :o

Flash is gonna have to wait a bit, but I'm looking forward to playing with the CLS system.

in talks with someone for the 14-24 now. d300 with grip, 17-55, and sb900 should be here saturday.

    Now pondering the 80-220 AF-D, 80-200 AF-S, or 70-200 VR.

i really want the VR buuuut i also want the beast. and want the sigma 50 as well. and that will help with the costs.

    what do you noinks think?

I'd say skip the SB900 for now and get the grip and 14-24. that lens is sex!!!

CLS is so fun, specially in manual mode.

The 70-200 is so fast when it comes to focusing, you can't find anything close to it (I think) in the Nikon lineup. Price is a bit high, but ask Joey about it, his 80-200 vs. the 70-200 made him a believer.

I decided to hold off on the VR for a few reasons. First, the VR is sweet in the middle of the frame but the light falloff and sharpness in the corners (from the samples I've seen) is not acceptable for a $1900 lens. Second, I don't use the focal length much, so I can afford to wait. Third, the 80-200 was replaced after 6 years (I think) and the VR is on it's 5th or 6th year, so there is some speculation that a new 70-200 will be released shortly to "update" the lens to FX.

If you need the focal length, you can't really wait. But since I don't use it much, I'm going to hold out for a bit.

if you don't use the 70-200 focal length, you're better off getting what you will use.

i use the focal rage, but i also want a good mid range zoom too. I use all of teh lens i have, the only lens i can hold off on is the fish, especially if i have the 14-24.

But if i were to buy the 70-200 Vr and 14-24 2.8, i would only have enough money for the Tamron 28-75, and no prime :(

i think i would prefer having more versatility in my kit then have the best of everything. But im still in a conundrum about it.

and how awesome is the fact that the sb800 and 900 come with "stofen" diffusers!!! so badass

i need the speeeeeedddd... and also for when i shoot real estate i need the full FX. DX mode wont be enough. :(

is the 80-200 AF-S or AF-D that bad? Obviously the AF-D has slower focu, which is shitty, but what about the AF-S?? That should be teh same focus motor as the VR right?

know little about that lens... its sharp, but I remember Joey saying how much faster the 70-200 was compared to his. I wish he would come in here and comment on it.

comes w/ the gels, but I don't know if it has the holder. The SB800 doesn't, I usually tape my gels on there.
