wow...used db's for the first time in a long time last night..

    Used DB's at the LA Fitness near my mom's house last night..all of the benches were taken and i saw an open spot near the db's, so i said fuck it.. did 4 sets x 10, (70,70,80,80...:ugh: - my tri's felt tweaked before i even got there, dunno why) and today my lats are fucking killing me..

    i guess it is good to switch it up..i definitely feel the difference in the recruitment of different muscles.. come to think of it, when my lats were at their biggest, i was db benching.. they seemed to stagnate when i switched over to bb.. also, when I am benching or doing seated db presses, i tend to get a pain in my hip.. wonder wtf that is.

    so i guess the point of this thread is.. do you feel more recruitment of extra muscles when using db over bb? perhaps the added stabilizers play a role?

    orrrr you can use BB as a main then follow up with DB accessory work and get the best of both worlds

    yeah.. before i was doing flat bb, then incline db.. i'm gonna start alternating every 2-3 weeks

    my chest hurts the most if i follow up with the machine chest press since it feels like it uses only my chest

    then again my chest sucks so people probably shouldn't listen to me

    yeah, i finished off with incline machine presses.. worked down to like 40 lbs on the stack and nearly died. :bowdown:

    I always use both in a workout. Start with the BB and finish with the Dumbell.

    oh and there was this big Ronnie Coleman lookalike wearing a big ass set of full ear phones, dancing around between sets of flat presses the 140's for like 15 reps, no problem.. he had a shirt on that said Fallujah Fight Club.. probably a marine or something. his dancing was like richard simmons though.. :ugh:

    i've taken 4 classes in BJJ at my local community college, so i don't know if you know what an armbar feels like, but don't push it bro

    I just started doing like 6 weeks bb work with bench and then go to 6 weeks db bench work.

    It's probably just in my head but I feel like working with a bb puts the mass on my chest and really hits my tri's, while the db shapes or brings out my chest and doesn't hit my tri's so hard. :dunno:

    well you can use more weight with a BB...so it would make sense that it would possibly cause more trauma to the muscles...

    What if the additional load, from the barbell, is being transfered into surrounding muscles :noes:

    For me, the BB works generally more of a shoulders and tri's. My shoulder has been sore, and my right wrist still hurts from doing a muscle up a while back (showing off to my friends and almost broke my wrsit on rep 2!). So I have been DB benching as of recent and I find I get a better chest workout.
