It is getting good reviews though. I could imagine if all I heard were horror stories but apparently this gun isn't that bad. :dunno:

Me too. I'm actually considering one. Cra-Z.

My dilemma is figuring out if I should get one with a tac rail or not. I like the look, but doubt I'd use the functionality much.

And I'd likely get a SS, not blued. Check av.

only an elite team fighter would need a 1911 of that quality.

I think the Taurus 1911's have been fine. Most of the problems people have had with Taurus have been with their Customer Service, and quality of some of their smaller auto-loaders.

As far as what I have read, the 1911's are in the clear.

I own one of their pt-99s and after about 800 rounds so far it works great. :)

I has one, love it to death. It just shoots and shoots and shoots and shoots and shoots and shoots and shoots and shoots and shoots and shoots and shoots and shoots the cheapest ammo walmart has to offer.

    As a non 1911 owner I believe if I were getting a budget 1911 I'd be looking
    1.) springfield
    2.) RIA
    3.) taurus

I had an officer call me wanting sights for one he was going to carry on duty (which we don't make for the reason Hilton Yam mentions in the quote above.) He started telling me about how it was back at Taurus for the third time for something (FTE's or something IIRC.) I was sitting there making the :ugh: face, and was like "It has gone back three times and you still want to carry it as a duty gun? I sure as hell wouldn't put my life in the hands of a gun that needed that many trips to the factory to get to run correctly."

This happens with all kinds of guns on the market. It was one gun.
Visit the Taurus forums and immediately see thousands of people happy with their 100% reliable guns.

That is all well and good, but it does not make it a bad handgun. I don't really have 1500$ to put into a "decent" 1911 and I just want something to shoot.

So, tac rail or traditional? That is the question.

    Do not want

  24. You can get a Springfield GI or a STI Spartan or any number of used 1911s for a similar price. I'd hesitate to buy a gun that's known for needing precise workmanship and care based mostly on price.

Hmmm. An STI Spartan would be nice I think.
