Wow I just had one of the worst experiences post-workout today.

Holy shit. So I had a great workout. I made the mistake of wearing an Ipod to lift weights in. Although lots of people do it, it was my first time and it wasn't the right choice. I couldn't hear myself breathing....so at times I would accidently hold my breath at the wrong times which causes pressure.... somehow the pressure built up in my eye and created a "blind-spot". It was really weird. It was like looking into the sun for a few seconds then looking away... but it was for a few hours. Anyway, this is turn gave me a HUGE MIGRAINE headache in my left eye/head and I tried to take a shower then lay down and relax but it just wouldn't work. I couldn't eat or anything because it was bothering me so much. It got to the point where I was laying in bed and I just got really nausious and PUKED. After I puked I fell asleep for 4 hours and I woke up better.... but still have a slight headache.

    That sucked =\.

I wonder if I should still workout on wednesday or am I going to create an anurizism or something.

sounds like you just got a migraine. I randomly get those spots youre talking about, they are just auras before the headache starts. The only thing you can do is take aleve or naproxen as soon as you start to get the blind spots. It most likely was random and not youre breathing. It happens to me once or twice a month.

hmmm... I tend to hold my breath during a lot of lifts or do 2 reps per breath, etc... and I've never gotten more than a little nausea or just really winded. You might want to get that checked out :noes:

I've used them before with no problem, but they just seem to get in the way. I lift pretty heavy for my size and I like to pay attention to my body rather than music. :dunno:

I think so too... I never had one before and I was kind of freaked out by it.

The headphones had nothing to do with it.

If you ever get the blind spot again. SUPER DOSE on tylenol + tylenol PM and try not to wake up for 6-8 hrs. Youll skip most of the headache. Trust me.

I hate that tunnel vision warning.

    this.

and try to find the exact source of the headache. try to ask a doctor if he can help you with it. If he's good, he can help you to narrow down whether it's a migraine, tension headache, etc. It sounds like a migraine, but you should visit the doctor to be sure.

Maybe you should record yourself saying "breath in, breath out" and just loop it on your ipod.

Migraines suck, if you took a lot of thermos its possible it was caused by this. Hydrate better and cut down the dose of caffeine/ephedrine.'

Small price to pay for a great workout :bigthumb:

    Im kidding.

Sounds like your blood pressure got too high from holding your breath. The blind spot you saw is called a floater. They generally go away after a day or so and are caused by high blood pressure. That's also why you got sick and had a headache.

I used to have those EXACT migraines. Get those white spots and vision starts to go. Tylenol/Advil won't save you. My stomach was never queasy, but puking kicked it out and then just passing out/waking up with a much milder headache :hs:

They stopped a while ago probably because I wasn't taking care of myself sleep wise

Uhhhhhh... if you're lifting correctly on something say like.... the bench press you should have inhaled/inhale while the weights are coming down, and exhaling while pushing back up. It's similar to yoga, and it's very important.

I actually take a breath before the decent and exale after it's locked out.

Not to freak you out, but what you just described are classic symptoms of an aneurysm. I'd definitely tell my doctor about this.
