I am thinking of getting involved in WoW.

Last thing I played was Warcraft-wise was Warcraft III.

I've played Diablo II, Starcraft, EverQuest...

What do I need to know to get started?
Any good web-sites for teaching newbs?
Should I buy just the game, or the full game? (expansions and all)

I have some free time, my 360 is getting boring.

Is there an OT guild or something?

    Help me out.

You can download a 10 day free trial of the game to see if you like it.

WoW is very easy to learn and play, you should have no trouble picking it up.

I would download a mod called Quest Helper and learn how to install it (drag and drop procedure or download WoW Matrix to do it for you). It will make leveling 10x easier as it basically tells you where you need to go for everything.

There is an OT server, but I'm not sure how many people play on it.

And play Horde side, the alliance suck balls.

use the 10 day free trial.

server = korgath for ot people, alliance
    or
server = skywall for MY peeps, Horde

although i think DZ has some people on Horde korgath

If you don't find people you enjoy playing WoW with then you'll probably not like the game.

I've downloaded the trial.... This definitely seems to be the case.

I cant seem to find anyone to play with...When I do...they bring me somewhere where we fight animals with to high levels, they die, then leave the party.

All I seem to do is have to walk EVERYWHERE...deliver this/that and fight animals and holy hell does it take a while to get places... No wonder people spend 10+ hours playing this game...it takes you that long to walk to your quest!

Not to mention the fact that once someone(NPC) tells you a quest, there is no icon on the map to find it!
"Go find the cave in the southwest".................
WTF kind of directions to quest is that?

I was looking to join up the OT folks..
    so I'm not lonely...
but I have no idea how to go about something like that...

Any tips/tricks/mods I need to know about?
Is there power-leveling?.... Hell. Diablo II seemed more fast paced then this.

Whats the best class to be?....

All classes are good, personally I prefer my hunter, mage, warlock and rogue. Those are the 4 I play most often.

I have just returned to the game recently after taking a year off and things have changed a lot while I was away.

They do allow mods/addons, you can find all kinds here at this website: http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/default.aspx

Also, exploration is the fun part of this game. If you don't like exploring your world and learning how to play your class, doing quests and just enjoying the environment, then this game is not for you. If you are all about getting to the end game, which is raiding and pvp, then more power to ya. It's definitely not the end all be all of this game and will leave you bereft.

Questhelper is amazing as far as quests go, it will put marks on your map where to go, and what to kill. Roll a Rogue, Hunter, Paladin, Druid for a first class, since they're all fun to play, and all useful in endgame

If you actually want to be wanted, roll a tank or healer. And befriend someone that's the opposite. If you're a tank, make friends with a healer and vice versa. You'll get groups so easy.

Everyone has a DPS class and they are everywhere.

Like I said, download Quest Helper.

Roll a Paladin, Hunter or Warlock if you want to level with no downtime.

Quest Helper does all that too.

Also calculates the most time efficient route between quest objectives you currently have.

zygor's is nice in that it tells you exactly what to do. No thinking required.

"Go to coordinates 47,23" (shown on map) "click the red plants on the ground" "go here, pick up this quest, go here etc etc" it's awesome for people who don't give a shit about lore and just want to do quests as fast as possible to hit max level and do shit that matters.

    Korgath--Alliance

I play on Cenarius--(One of the first servers) but since more OT'ers are on Korgath i'd hit that up first.

    Some basic commands

    Hit Enter

/w KIXY (This will send a tell ( whisper ) to KIXY ) enter then your message

Hit numlock and you will autorun (HUGE bonus)

Left clicking allows to pan around your toon

Right clicking allows for much faster panning with your toon facing the direction of your camera

At level 30 you get your first ground mount so while it is slow for 30 levels--once you get your first mount you will be FLYING.

60 is the epic ground mount and no it's not cheap.

Leveling can get boring really quickly so get used to it up til level 58 (Which is the level requirement for the gate to Outlands) where OL becomes fun.

WoW is a fuckin blast and once you get into it you'll find it hard to put down--so take a good look at your life and try to be as casual with it as possible.
