I never had a problem with this 2LT I met at the ball last night, but today he got pwned. I don't know what the hell he did but they found his beret today with SHIT and SEMEN in it. First whoever did it took pictures of it and posted it around the WHOLE armory. They couldn't find the beret and they didn't know if it really happened, but then they found it under the gym stage and..holy shit was he pissed.

He choose everybody he'd ever had a problem with and smoked them for 45 mins straight..none of them told who did it...crazy

I guess it would really depend on the LT here. You get some LT's who think they're God's gift to the military machine, and they're going to fix all the problems starting right now with THIS one (whatever little thing is pissing them off at the moment). They don't listen and/or learn from their NCO's. They halfheartedly listen to their own chain of command. They totally disregard the well-being of their troops in order to either get noticed and promoted, or otherwise make a mark on the unit they're with.

Story time - we'd had a couple great platoon leaders, and as they moved on, we got a real zero. Guy shouldn't have been allowed a commission as a park ranger, much less a military officer. He was fine on book stuff, made himself invisible around the armory (left the enlisted training to the enlisted/NCO's), and was something of a harmless idiot... until we went to the field. He was wound up so tight, so preoccupied with doing things "by the book", that he made everyone miserable for two weeks, and got us sim-killed numerous times with bad judgment calls. That sort of thing happens, but when four different people get on the radio and tell him "Red 6, you might want to reconsider that idea", from the platoon sergeant down to the E-3 driving his track, well, he just wasn't paying attention.

Now, our command structure recognized that the core of the scout platoon had no faith in Lt. Zero, and got him the hell out of our little group quick, before anything bad happened to him. My guess here is that there were plenty of warning signs leading up to the beret incident... and like good soldiers, ain't nobody going to rat out the brave troop who done that deed. :bigthumb:

Good officers are a real asset to a unit, but a bad officer can kill people, wreck spirits, and destroy unit cohesion. Something for higher-ups to pay attention to.

ill say from the point of an LT in training who is not prior...they do not or at least have not yet made it clear enough to most that as a 2LT you dont have much say nor should you try to have much say. The job should be sit watch and soak in what you can for at least the first few months.

but they dont teach that...im just glad I have some experience and a lot of prior O and E friends.
