While the PS3 gets $100 price cut. The game industry is rumbling to raise the price tag of games.

I read an interview recently with a Sony suit claimed $100 price tags on games are coming soon. In many country's the conversion already puts many games at close to $100, and it's coming to the U.S and Canada.

If new game prices hit $100+ would you still buy as many games a year as you do now?

I've never played a game in my entire life that's worth $100.

There's no way I would ever pay $100 for a game.

We pay about $80 for a new title here but the rrp for new titles is usually $100

They are my hobby as well but I wouldn't let some company rip me off simply because they want more money and they know I love video games... pretty much exploitation at that point.

But the user base was extremely small, and mostly people with disposable income that were fanatics of the games they were buying.
Definitely the exception to the rule.

I doubt the 8-35yr old market ( very broad generalization of the gaming populous that plays and has the ability to buy games ) would be able to actually purchase games that cost 100 bucks.

Piracy would become the norm, even bigger than it is now.

I honestly think that the price of games will not reach the 100 dollar mark. Not anytime soon anyways.
The industry now is thriving on the digital transaction. The impulse buy. They 10 dollar game.

Not only will digital, cheap content that doesnt cost an assload to manufacture become more the norm, but DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT and ADDONS is the future.
The plan? Simple. Get em in with a 20-60 dollar purchase, then hit em with tons of downloadable addons that take WAY less longer to kick out than the full game, engine, etc.
So if they kick you a 60 dollar game, then hit you with 3 20 dollar addon packs that year, and then kick out a game of the year edition for like 100 bucks or 80 bucks that has all that shit in it.

Then throw in costumes, micro-transactions like avatar gear, guide books, etc.

They wont raise the price. Doubling the price of games?:rofl::rofl: If you believe this shit.
It took forever for them to raise it $10 bucks, now your saying and believing they would raise it an additional 40$.

    :rofl::rofl::rofl: The market would collapse.

There are only a select few PC games that I know would give me enormous replay value...then and only then would I pay 100 bucks for a single game

if new games are 100, then used games will be 60. and there won't be any used game stock because nobody will be buying new games. :o

i used to spend 100$ on some snes games back when it first was released. Anyone else remember those prices?

I would spend 100$ on a game like starcraft or diablo 2 because I know they last 10+ years

from the ps1/2 ear they went from 49 to 59 now with the ps3, which is a $10 jump in over 10 years and now your saying in a matter of 4 years it will jump again but this time $40?

If this actually went through they should expect video game piracy to skyrocket to a new all time high. I'd probably still buy a game here and there, but $100 is pretty fucking steep.
