Matt Serra is coming to my gym for a seminar. While I'd love to meet him and train with him I don't know if its worth $50 to me. I think he gives good advice, but I have two great bjj coaches to begin with. Haha, more than anything I just want to spar MMA with him and see how long it takes before I get subbed.

Edit: I could go for free, but I think that would be way too much to ask of my trainer. He has let me train for free for months, always buys me lunch and dinner, and works with me whenever I want even if it means coming in late at night after closing.

Me personally? Hell yes. I think he is a outstanding coach. However I have never trained BJJ a day in my life and have no loyalty towards any camp. If your trainer has no problems with it then I would say go for it.

I mean if its only 50 bucks sure go ahead and dont forget to bring a notebook because alot of people are dumb and dont take notes and end up forgeting everything they learned except for one move or drill.

If it was any more ten 50 bucks or if your hurting for cash I wouldnt go because seminars arent really anything special they bassically show you the same type of stuff you would learn in a video

$50 seems like it would be a great price. Even before he won the show and belt.

Matt is a great guy. You stand to learn a great deal from any of Renzo's black belts. I trained under Jamie Cruz before I moved to NYC, and, although strictly BJJ, his input made my overall game much better. Add Matt's MMA experience on top of his BJJ game, and what he has learned from Ray Longo, and I'm sure 50 bucks is well worth it. I just wish I lived within a reasonable distance of his gym.

its worth it depending on who's teaching it like I said most of the time you can learn from a instructional vid but when the actual person is there you can work on finer details like how to set up the submition and other things. The way I see it is instructional videos are good for reference and beginers and seminars are better for more advanced students so you can work on details.
