Just went to my wife's Anytime Fitness...they don't have a freeweight squat rack or a barbell bench press set-up. What they do have, is a "3-D Max Rack"...

I am a bit of a purest, and would much rather have a real freeweight set-up, but I asked the owner and she said that since the place was a 24 hour facility, the choice came down to client safety, which I understand...still...I don't think I could pay to go to a gym that was missing what is in my mind at least, an essential piece of equipment.

Question is...how many of you would make the decision to attend a gym based entirely on the presence or absence of a squat rack?

Client safety? WTF Since when do gym's have issues with safety and safety people monitoring gyms like lifeguards monitor the beach?

Do they have any olympic barbells in the gym? Any flat or adjustable benches whatsoever? It looks like you could just bring a barbell into that thing and use it as a standrad squat rack.

Of course if they don't have any barbells or benches around then fuck that place. It's totally useless.

not an oly bar in the place...and the dumbbells only go to 100lbs.

I wonder what they would say to a guy bringing in his own bar...

My wife told me before I went it was a chick gym so I'm not shocked...they want me to work there but this may change my opinion...

i actually work at a facility that pretty much has only smith machines (pretty much that thing in the pic) however, mine is a sports therapy clinic, but the clients are the vast majority older women. i got all my bases done at the place, but have since moved to a 'real gym' for my 'real' training. lulz. not a bad place, but usually these places cost more than your run of the mill gym, and if you really just want a bench and a squat rack, then i'd say go elsewhere. one benifit which you might want to look into though, is sometimes these places offer unlimited personal training included with the dues (mine does anyway) pros and cons, but if you already know what you're doing as far as working out, go with a gym with the full array of equipment.

that's the entire reason I came into the industry...best shot at bodybuilding is to basically live in a gym...nothing keeps you on track like having your day broke down into half hour increments

I'd join that gym as long as they employed a whole foods specialist as a personal trainer.
