    20D vs. 30D etc, etc... Im a Noob and Im lookinf for my first DSLR

    Been looking for actuation life on the 20Ds and it seems to be around 50k
    Does this package look decent?

    basically the tamron lens is crap.

    iirc the used price of 20D are around 500-600 ish right now...

    find out how much a used 17-85mm is going for and you'll know if you have a good deal or not.

    $500-600 is a low for a 20D, they usually average around $600-700. The mint ones with all accessories still regularly go for $750~800 on FM and ebay.

    Still, I wouldn't get that kit because the lenses aren't all that good.

    Thanks for the heads up...

    Should I be looking at used 20Ds or a new 30D and wait til the 40D comes out and see if the price drops...

    You should be looking at whatever camera best fits your needs. :dunno:

    there are plenty of lens reviews on the net, do a google.

    tamrons are generally cheaper (and inferior) lenses when compared to canon lenses. There are a few gems in the tamron range but the 28-200 is not one of them.
