I currently am using a Sony Ericsson S700i w/ T-Mobile, and have had T-Mobile for over 5 years. I've had really good experiences with the service. Only thing is that I'm looking for a new phone and I don't want to spend that much.

I've heard a lot of bad things about the Razr, not specifically the black one, but the silver one. And has Cingular's service improved? I know the phone is worth getting for $39, but I don't know about the 2yr contract.

    Any suggestions?

I wouldn't get a RAZR regardless of the price :dunno:

For the same $30 you can pick up a refurb SMT5600 from Cingular, thats what I would get and that's what I did get...2 of them.

it all depends on what type of person you are. I could care less of what my phones looks like, or does it play songs when it rings. I would NEVER EVER get a contract just to get a cool phone for cheap. As long as my phone works, i dont care if it is color or not, it is good enough for me. I personally wouldnt sign a contract for that phone. This phone thing has went way overboard and people use these as items of status such as their vehicles are used. Get what suits yourself, dont get hooked up into those myths. My phone is cheap as hell, and i get service jsut as good as anyone else, but i dont have all those rings, organizer, colored screen etc.

I don't think it's worth it at the moment. It looks cool but it doesn't sound like the features are there, especially for a 2 year contract. Check out the Cingular phone thread, lots of good suggestions in there!

If you call T-mobile customer support and say that you are thinking of switching to cingular they will foward you to the retentions department and they will probably give you a good deal on a phone because you've been with them for 5 years.
