I just finished up college recently & will be buying my first new car on my own....... I pretty much know I want to go w/ some type of Honda b/c of the reliability/resale, etc....

I have about $7-8k for a down payment. I only want new b/c of warranty & don't want to deal w/ any issues from a used car.

    Cars I'm thinking of:

    Honda Civic Coupe LX/EX 5spd $17-$18k
    Honda Civic Si 6spd $21k
    Honda Accord Coupe 5spd $23k
Acura TSX 6spd $28k (but i could get a deal on one b/c I own a GM at an Acura dealer)

The price gap is big, but those are what I'm looking at.

color would be white, black or silver.

I want to save for a condo/house too, so i'm going back & forth between what i like the best (TSX) & what I think is the best choice in my situation (probably just a civic)

They all get pretty good gas mileage, but my round trip to work is about 30-35 miles each day.

I'd go with the TSX. I looked at them when I bought my BMW. Nice car- a bit underpowered, and overall in need of an update, but still nice :)

tsx is obviously the best choice there, but it's also about 10 grand more than my last choice...... although, i could probably pay close to invoice for one.

i'd go w/ pearl white w/ black interior.

that's kinda what i'm leaning towards now b/c it's right in the middle......not the best option & not the worst. i went to the dealer near me & they only had a red coupe w/ 5spd.......red is my last choice.

seriously, just get something cheaper man.. like an 05-06 civic with 30k miles

then once that shits out in 10 years, you can upgrade to something really nice

i'm honestly not a fan of buying used cars......my parents have had nothing but problems w/ any used car they've bought (they only buy new now). i just feel like people get rid of cars b/c it's causing problems (i know this isn't always the case, but often times it is).

i can drive a manual better than i can an auto....shifting gears doesn't bother me or hinder me one bit.

thats why i said 20-30k miles.. not high enough for any weird problems, and high enough to take the "used car" price dive

buying new is wasting 1-2 grand

at least buy one with 5k miles on it

I was faced with a similar dilemma and I picked up the TSX; so far I've been VERY happy with it, great car!

one thing w/ a used civic is that they hardly drop value at all.......i could get a brand new one for a couple thousand more. trust me, they hold their value extremely well.
