A&P would you buy a lens with cosmetic damage?

    say it's a very sharp copy but there's a scuff, not too large but maybe 1/2" scratch on the barrel and right below a little scuff on the rubber ring

    If it makes the cost go down I'd buy it. Some people worry what stuff looks like, I never have.

    i would buy it in a heart beat if the damage is just cosmetic, i would get them to lower the price. My gear is not exactly always gonna look brand spanking new, just because i use it alot so it will have wear and tear. However some people are different, they buy stuff use it occasionally and will probably sell it all one day, if that the case, then you may want to steer clear.

    Provided it's purely cosmetic, yeah, i'd buy it in a heartbeat... at a reduced price.

    Cosmetic damage may indicate that it fell or was hit somehow that may or may not have damaged the insides just short of making it dysfunctional

    that's what i'm thinking or maybe it got knocked and over a bit of time might go out of sync :dunno:

    this. If it's cosmetic damage only, you're good to go, and it's a profit. if it turns out after the sale that it's a little shifty, send it in for repair, and you're still good to go.
