with 44,900 miles? Guy at my job posted one for sale. Says well maintained and in perfect condition. All reciepts from previous 2 owners are available.

How reliable are these? I'm going to assume the worst and say not very, but then again it only has 45k on the clock. What about for daily driving?

I talked to a guy this weekend who had a 944 and a Celica GT-S

Guess which one he daily drove and took to the track and which one was the garage queen

I have almost bought a few 80's Porsches because I kept think "hey, I can own a Porsche for $2000!!!" But they're expensive as fuck to maintain and the 80's Porsche's have shitty HP numbers... the ones I've seen anyways. If I get a Porsche I want to at least beat a V6 Mustang.

It's a 23 year old car for fucks sake. WTF do you expect. For the time, they made good numbers. I just wouldn't want to replace the timing belt and water pump after every drive....

The exhaust needs to be dropped in order to change the clutch

think about how much labor that would cost or how much work that is to do your own

we call those poor mans porsches.
Everyone I know of was notorious for unreliability, as with any car though, there are good ones and bad ones.

only if it were a turbo and in good shape.

My brother picked up a 88 911 targa 3.2 g50 for not much more recently(11k). Great shape, runs great, fun to drive but with high miles.

They are crazy to drive compared to modern cars (even modern porsches). The car seems thin, like there isn't much metal separating you from the outside :o It feels like you are a millimeter off the road. It's pretty neat actually.
