...when I first bought my AR15 (Rock River's version), I bought some mags and a few hundred rounds of reloaded ammo at a gun show.

My gun jammed numerous times with it. I took it to the guy I bought it from to clear the barrel, and he said "the rifle's fine, just don't use that reload shit in it". Since then I've bought only quality ammo and have NEVER had a jam.

I'd like to start reloading my own ammo, but my experience has kinda soured me to it. Anyone here reload rifle rounds? Does anyone know why this gun would be so sensitive to shooting reload?

    Thanks.

The rule of thumb I was always told was never to buy things like gun show reloads. I wouldn't buy reloads from anyone that I didn't personally know to be making high quality rounds (like yar or AB13) or someone that had a demonstrable quality control system they applied to the ammo they sold.

Most people who take reloading seriously learn to do things the right way by asking questions of the experienced people, buying the right books, and taking their time on learning how to do things the right way. If you learn to do it right, you can make match-quality ammunition for less than it costs to buy factory new bulk standard ammo.

Your reloads are only going to fuck up if you fuck them up.

using other peoples reloads = epic fail

using your own reloads = epic win

Unless you're a tard, then it might be epic fail too.

When you say "clear the barrel" what do you mean? Was there a bullet stuck in the bore or was there a casing stuck in the chamber?
