So it seems in need to first download an emulator? And then the ROM for the games?

I tried dl'ing an emulater and then the game, but nothing happens.
I am confused, how does this work? Or is it dangerous to dl this stuff to my comp to begin with?

complete noob here, help me out :WaveS:

I use Nestopia for NES games on my MacBook. Download the emulator. Download the ROM. Put them in the same folder. Imagine the ROM as the game cartridge and the emulator in the console. Open the emulator, then file--> open and select the ROM. Make sure video & controller settings are all set up. That is all. No, it isn't dangerous at all... at least I have never had problems and I've used emulators for yeaaaaaars
