or is that too long? I've been feeling like shit lately probably because I think I'm burnt out from school, IM vball and basketball plus my fraternity. I don't have th drive or energy to push heavy weights in the gym nowadays:o

I usually come back stronger. There is nothing wrong with taking breaks, especialy if you are feeling "burned out".

i wouldn't think you would come back stronger on the first workout after the break, but i'm sure you would in a week or two.

Burning out and losing all motivation wouldnt be too favorable either. I do agree that a 2-3 week break is a bit long.

I would just take an entire week off...If I don't go to the gym for 3 days it feels like I haven't been there for a month

:werd: I took a week off and was able to do a higher 1RM deadlift than I had tried before.

take 10 days off and go back.. should be plenty long for you to heal up, recover and refocus.

    .

unless you are genuinely sick I don't see why you would need anything more than 7-10 days of rest and even then I only take that kind of break after a meet or after a training cycle finishes and before I start a new one. Anytime I take a break for longer than that I feel shitty and weak afterwords.

How long was your break then?

Personally, unless you recently peaked in strength competitively as a pl'er, strongman etc. or in condition as a bodybuilder I don't think you need to take extended layoffs that often.

That said...2-3 weeks won't harm you... but don't think it won't affect your progress.

Spring break is comming up for me in a week. I'm going to have to take a week off weather I like it or not...I almost never take any time off since it makes me feel like shit the whole time.
