Would 3 protein shakes @ 50 grams each be excessive???

    Doing 2 currently (one in the morning, one in the evening typically right after gym).

    Would adding another one in midday be helpful?

    Depending on how fast you drink one of them, you're body isn't going to use up or even process all 50 grams of protein in one short sitting.

    You should break up your shakes into smaller ones, like 30gs each. Unless you're taking digestive enzymes and a diet to match.

    so you're trying to say that some 130 bean pole can digest the same amount of protein as a 350lb behemoth in one sitting, and that the amount for both is 30g? think about that for a minute

    I don't think the marginal utility of the additional 20g is worth it.

    Shakes are meant to be a suppliment.

    to address the current topic:

    If you feel that you "need" more than 100 grams of protein from synthetic source then by all means. I would recommend that you get as much as you possibly can through several smaller meals througout the day and not rely upon the convenience of the shakes.

    You'd be surprised at how much you can get throughout the day from regular food.

    wow, their are some seriously ignorant muther fuckers around these parts. And now, the average male cannot fully digest and USE 50 grams of protein if eaten quickly.

    wait what the hell, so you're telling me....if i drink a shake made of 8oz of water + 2 scoops of ON Whey (48g), in like 30 seconds-1 minute, i'm not gonna get the benefits of it fully because our body can't digest it that quickly?

    I'm 5'10" 165 lbs. I lift Monday-Friday. Besides the shakes, I eat 2 sensible meals a day focusing on low fat, high protein. I also have a snack or two throughout the day of like apples or something.

    i think i mentioned this before but when i was lifting 5 years ago ( a year into it) i went crazy and drank a myoplex deluxe with two scoops of designer protein all in about 20-24 ounces a milk

    3 times a day
    i used to shit chocolate powder i swear. it went away when i stopped putting in the extra scoops, and also stopped when i used HMB :dunno:
