Coworker decided he wanted an AK after seeing the romy I bought at a gun show a month or so ago. I told him to just buy one at the next show, or go to a shop and buy one. He ended up buying a polish underfolder from a guy on arfcom, took it to the range and it wouldn't feed reliably, it was almost like a bolt action. So after talking to the guy he got his money back (btw, the arfcom guy got the receiver milled down on one side and that fixed it). Next he ordered a Yugo from J&G sales, got it a couple days ago and took it to the range last night. After about half a mag he started getting FTF and FTE like crazy. Even tried two different mags with no luck, what are the chances? I know a lot of people who have AK's and have had no trouble at all (heck I took my cheap ass romy out of the box and fired 90 milsurp rounds through it without a problem), and he gets two bad ones in a row. :eek3:

never had a problem with my AK (course, it was a nearly mint Romy G on a NDS receiver built by a smith)....

people sack-ride the shit out of AKs and I just don't get it. They're fucking ugly. They're not comfortable. They're not ergonomic.

People SAY that they're reliable.... Maybe if you're a fucking idiot that can't take care of a firearm... I haven't had a problem with any of my non-AK firearms. They shoot 100% of the time.

Was it someones home built? I wouldn't buy one that someone else built at home. If the 2nd was a Century built Yugo I've heard of a few problems with them before.

I like the look of them, find mine perfectly comfortable to shoot, and the ergonomics aren't bad (NATO length stock, not Warsaw length).

fwiw, have run through about 1300 rounds on my AK only dropping some oil on the rails/bolt twice, and I don't think I will ever be cleaning it :dunno:

I've decided I'm going to run my AR until it quits.

It's a flat top RRA 16" CAR new out of box. I didn't lube it. I've only run wolf through it. up to 750 rounds now, haven't had a misfire yet.

I know... I dunno why I'm doing it, I guess to see how far I can push it... My G19 is going through the same test, but it's over 11K rounds since it's last cleaning/oiling.... I'm about to just give up on that one :mamoru:

soooooo many people have done that with the glock... Kind of a worthless test now as I don't think I've seen even a single one that didn't pass.

As for the AR, I've seen people go through 1000 rnds in a single range-session, so I know they can do way more than that. Even if there is a failure down the road, I'd be very surprised if a cleaning doesn't fix it.

Well the glock is more because I shoot it alot, and I'm lazy. So i'm not going to clean it until I have a reason to. The AR is just because... well I'm lazy. And I'd just like to see.

let me know how the AR turns out. I would never do it with mine, but it's always interesting to read about that stuff.

As for the glock, they are soooo easy to clean. Even if you just ran a bore-snake through it, give it a little love. :wiggle:

No. Not until I have a reason too... Not like I've never cleaned it or anything, that gun is approaching 35K rounds now, and it's not the only glock i have it's just my range gun.

well, duh. But all I've heard is that it's dirty and can't be reloaded. I haven't heard about any kB issues. So what's going on there?

there have also been instances of flash holes not even existing in the case, blowing the fuck out of the bolt.

I should of been at closer to 6k rounds but awhile back I accidentally brought a mag of corrosive ammo with me to the range :wtc:
