How many of you guys do this? Anybody struggle for a while to get into the routine? Going to start trying this but I'm afraid it's going to be a pain in the ass  Will have to see what I can stomach that early for some energy before I workout too. Having a pussy stomach ftl!

Any tips/suggestions other than just do it? :hsd:

I get up between 5:15 and 5:30 M-F to lift.

The key is to go to bed early and get a good night's sleep. It's hard but now I prefer to lift first. It clears my head and energizes me for the day. The gym is also almost empty so I can focus.

I'm up at 4:30 MWF and 5:15 TT to lift and do cardio. You get used to it after awhile.

i prefer to lift/do cardio in the morning for a number of reasons..first, so I don't have time to make up excuses not to go, and also to wake up/get energized for the day..it's also nice to start the day with a sense of accomplishment.

Yeah... I like to workout first thing in the morning just to get it out of the way. I come back in the afternoon just to make sure it stays out of the way.

And yeah... you get used to it. Caffeine is your best friend... BCAA's/ EAA's during the workout is your second best friend when you don't feel like waking up even earlier just to eat.

I try to sleep between 9-10pm, and wake up at 4:30am. Eat whatever I can and take a caffeine pill if needed. By the time I get to the gym at 6:30am, my stomach isn't bloated or irritated. The stomach issue is a big deal for me since 6:30am = BJJ for me. But I fucking hate waking up. I notice the earlier you go to sleep, the easier it is to wake up.

I had a brief stint where I was training in the early mornings. Did not last very long. More power to those who can get up that early and still get a good session in.

I've been working out in the mornings for the last few weeks. I set my alarm for 5am and I'm at the gym ready to rock by 6am. I usually dont eat breakfast beforehand, I just pound 2 scoops of NoXplode and hit the weights. I eat afterward.

:hsughno: How important is it to eat before you lift in the morning. I make sure to eat afterward, but I don't really feel like eating before lifting early. I seem to have plenty of energy to lift heavy on just my PWO drink.

Not so bad. I usually drink a breakfast shake about 30 minutes before my workout.

On a side note, I saw an old man about 60ish lifting with a broken left arm

finally got my ass out of bed this morning at 5:45. Showered, and had a banana and protein shake. Got to the gym and was so tired I just ripped through my workout in about 40 minutes :o Felt alright, we'll see how it goes. I wish my gym had better showers. I showered at home before I went and just made sure I didn't sweat too bad :o

I prefer to pop some ephedrine and drive to the gym with the heater on full blast.
