As 2 or 3 of you know by now, I'm getting paid to take pics of various topics, mostly highschool sports. Thankfully for my paycheck, yesterday brought a sectional girls volleyball tournament -- with 6 schools that we cover -- to my home school... Across the street. So, I was there for 7 freaking hours shooting girls volleyball, in a poorly lit gym. Just to compound my hate, one of the damn lights died while I was shooting, and the ref yelled at me when I even got the flash out of my gear bag. Ass. Anyway, ehre's a couple nice ones... I know the first one isn't in perfect focus, but I love the capture, and it'll be printed in a freaking yearbook so it's not like they need 8x10s. Neatimage owned it too, but just look. No way you're still reading, anyway.

Nikon d70 and an 80-200 f2.8 D (I wanted the AF-s sooo bad... but my school's yearbook dept was kind enough to purchase the lens for me to use [I'm doing their yearbook for free on account of this] so I couldn't be too picky... I had no moeny anyway *shrug*) handheld at between 1/250th and 1/400th. Set the white balance to closeish, and hoped... they're still too damn warm, I never can get it right under those fucking lights.

    But yeah, d70 and an 80-200 f2.8.

Shoot RAW. It'll eliminate your white balance problems.

    woohoo 100th post:rly:

anyway... I dont encourage you always shoot in raw if you are still learning the camera but given the conditions you were in (and have sufficent memory) I would have shot in raw. get a copy of CS2 if you can find one and use the raw program within CS2, I'm not familar with nikons raw program so i cant help you with it if you have any problems...I can help you with Cs2 if you want tho

255 megs of ram, 1 ghz processor, gateway comp from march 2k0. I'd rather just buy anew comp, to be honest... it'd certainly be quicker, easier, cheaper, and bettererer. I've got windows ME for gods sakes.

And my boss told me to avoid a raw workflow, for the fact that they'd much prefer to have jpegs to deal with, because they're WAY faster. Being that I'm 1 photographer and will be delivering 400+ 3 mb jpegs tomorrow, and he employs 60 photogs throughout the state..... raw could be prohibitive in more than one way. *sigh*

I will be shooting it anyway when I get my new rig :big grin: I'm sick of shitty looking pics... but not till then.

    Woohoo, jailbait! (rightclick-save, rightclick-save...)

I wish I could find a P&S that could crank out pictures like that in a poorly-lit area. All the heavy equipment cramps my style.

Tomash, who is the lady in your avatar?
