This is a general "best practices" question.

Should I install wordpress via fantastico or do a manual install?

What if the version in there is not the version you want?

    Maybe it's an older verion?

Maybe you need a specific version that works with a specific plugin or theme?

maybe it wasn't a secure installation or something where hackers could find the log file and get mah secret codes.

not that anybody wants to hack me :wtc: :squint:

    Fantastico to install.

    Manual update, if any.

Not that hard to auto update to the newest version of WP.

I'd recommend a manual install unless your host keeps it up-to-date.. takes about the same time regardless, though. :o

i use liquid web. They are really good. It's updated almost instantly, but not like I can't auto-update within wordpress itself. Even the auto-install of widgets is good. It makes doing maint. when I'm on my ship that much easier.
