I lost my old knife that I paid $50ish for in a lake about 2 years ago. I had it clipped to my life vest and later it was nowhere to be found. Must be at the bottom now. I was sad. I really liked that knife.

ANYWAY. Found another one on Ebay for (buy-it-now) $10.75 + $3.25 shipping. :bigthumb:

    S&W SWAT serrated. :big grin:

They charge $50 for S.W.A.T.'s? Good god. :ugh:

I think I bought my first production run model for $30 or so, and even now I wouldn't pay more than 10 bucks for one.

I wouldn't give 5 cents. S&W licensed knives are crap, for crap knives, I'd rather buy United.

If you like it, more power to ya.

poor :insert any aspect of the knife:

really they're just put together poorly, bad steel, etc. They're throwaways at best :dunno:

No, the $2.99 ones I get at Target for hanging on my life jacket now are throwaways. In any event, my old SWAT did everything I asked of it so I'm satisfied. I don't see a point in spending ten times as much for something that'll do the same job. (Open boxes, cut tape, cut rope, cut canvas, trim green fiberglass, etc etc.) Is there a reason I should want a $100 knife? Does it do my taxes while I sleep?

You can do all that with a razor knife too, why not carry one? You get what you pay for, that's all I'm saying :dunno:

All the S.W.A.T. knives I've seen (at least 5) had all the screws walking out, folding and lock mechanisms got loose, and the blade's never really held a great edge in comparison to my benchmade or Kershaws.

I mean you can drop $10-30 on a new S.W.A.T., but why do that when you can get a kershaw that's 2x better for $30-50?

Given all that, it is a good beater knife. Loctite the screws, don't put too much stress on the lock and it'll work fine.

I guess I just don't see what you guys are doing to put so much stress on them? :dunno:

You should get a kanji sticker for it... adds 5 horsepower. :mamoru:

When I say don't put too much stress, I mean baby the fuck out of it and it might not get loose as hell and fall apart.

I had my last one for several years and aside from sharpening it occasionally it was as good as the day I bought it when it fell in the lake. :dunno: Perhaps it was just an exceptional example. I hope not. Hehe.
