I guess what makes this lense good is that its an f2.8 lense, the fact that its only a 17-55mm kind of makes it...:ugh:
No matter, It sounds like it will be a great lense. I have a 28-90mm f3.2 quantaray lense, and I've made some excellent (i think so) night shots. If you want you can take a peek at a few of mine.

    Night Shot 1
    Night Shot 2
    Night Shot 3
    Night Shot 4
    Morning Shot

Have fun with the lense man. :)

    Cool shots :big grin:

and yeah... the fact that it's F2.8 PLUS it's got image stabilisation built in...... night photography / weddings will be alot easier to capture :)

on a rebel, the 17-55mm is a pretty good range... although it would have been cool to have a couple more mm.... :-/

still worth it though... it's basically an L lens :big grin:

and BTW... f/2.8 isn't needed for night shots... I never shoot lower than f/5.6 at night.. assuming your not talking about using it to shoot sports and/or people.

Really? I'd have to know what your technique is because I have a VERY hard time shooting people in low light... low lower f will greatly help... along with ths IS.

I kept switching to my f1.4 50mm for low light crisp shots.

I was shooting Rihanna at a concert recently and in the dark, the combination low f and IS would have greatly helped!

  17. :bowrofl: You guys are horrible

Yea it sounds like that canon 17-55 might be nice, but I'm not sure, I think I'd rather save up for the quantary 28-90 ftmfw :mamoru:

70-700L will be the next purchase... fuck the F4.... unless i get one at a good price... sharp optics for the win...

research this... I bought a 100-200mm canon F4.5 a while back (quick purchase because i wanted a long lens for my asia trip... cost 80$ lol)

needless to say the Rihanna pics came out "ok", but could have been better with a 70-200 f2.8.....

16-35.... I dunno... the 17-55 has some crazy crazy sharp optics.....

yeah.. I said it's not needed unless your shooting sports and/or people... as of right now, all I shoot at night is landscape/street stuff... I will however eventually need something like the 70-200 f/2.8 for wedding work.

true true.... that is indeed what you said :big grin: my bad.

yeah... that's the main reason i'm getting the lens... to be able to do wedding work when the time comes... combined with a 70-200 2.8 and you can be set for a while.

    good times :big grin:

  22. Good luck getting sued by bridezilla!!!!!1

I thnk you need alittle more time behind the lens and books before you go thinking about doing any weddings. It's alot more than just snapping a few pics and collecting the cash.

:bigthumb: thats really all I use. the Tammy and fitty hardly ever see the light of day. 300 2.8 is next on the list, but it'll be a while. PWs and a lot of other biz expenses have to come first

:eek3: Didn't see that coming from you for some reason, but the man speaks the truth

  25. :mamoru: Oh snape! I meant to tell him to wait till the bride gets drunk then take her in the back for a private shoot minus her dress! :hs:
