Tampa-area woman survives gunshot between her eyes
    http://www.tampabays10.com/news/local/article.aspx?storyid=78357

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Doctors say it's amazing that a 41-year-old Tampa-area woman survived after someone shot her right between the eyes while she was riding in her boyfriend's pickup truck.

Doctors think she was hit with a .44-caliber bullet that broke in two pieces, each traveling under her skin and exiting behind her ears last weekend. She was released from the hospital hours later with just stitches.

The woman says two cars started following their truck Saturday night and the occupants began yelling at them.

At a traffic light, someone in one of the cars stood up in the sunroof and started shooting back at the truck.

Part of the bullet that hit the woman exited her head, went through the back window of the truck and hit a Jeep driving behind it.

Police are still looking for the shooter.

WOW...Ive seen what just a .357 Mag can do to fruit, let alone hitting a person in the head. .44's are even stronger, she should seriously go buy a lottery ticket.

Well that's a story to shut the grand kids up. "Quit your bitching, I was shot in the head and shook it off, now walk it off."

If it was a 10mm both her head and the jeep behind them would of been in pieces.

that's why they say you need a .45. that extra .01 caliber makes the difference :mamoru:

i was referring to ACP. Being what I thought would be an obvious joke as the .45ACP leg-humpers often refer to their larger diameter caliber as being inheriently supperior to the 9mm or .40S&W... Some even going so far as to call the .40S&W "short & wimpy" despite having more energy in the round than the .45ACP. Of course I'm not implying that is some "equalizer", however, as the three main semi-auto calibers are all rediculously close to each other in effectiveness against human targets, with more stock being deserved in picking a caliber that works well in the firearm you wish to use (for example 1911's do best in .45ACP -- as where the M&P seems to be favored in .40S&W) and then picking the appropriate load for your caliber.

you mean .500 S&W mag? That thing is a beast. I'm not a fan of wheel guns, tho, and I think that's all you'll find chambered for that cartridge.

with modern bullets, the ballistic difference between the three is almost neglegible

that was the point I was making. With the proper loads for each caliber, they are equally effective against human targets.

I'm buying a .45-70 revolver now, fuck. Won't catch me all zombified. I could just SBR a Mosin and be done with it.

For the record, even with ACP, you would still have to put 'Colt' behind .45 :mamoru:

true, but two other important words "automatic" and "pistol" would also be required, and change the meaning, dramatically.
