Got an indigo iMac on ebay for $120

500mhz, 128mb ram (totally upgrading that) 20 Gb Hard drive, DVD player, and it's preloaded with 10.3.

What do y'all think? Good deal? Is it gonna be unbearably slow before I get a chance to upgrade the ram? Will the usb wireless card for my pc work with it?

 I was only 10 in 2001 so I remember being in Compusa with my brother who was about to go off to college and looking up at the stacks of Clamshell iBook boxes. He pulled me away exclaiming that he hated macs. It's been a love affair ever since.

Its surprisingly useable, yes. A G4 is a good bit faster, but for just web browsing and stuff, it works.

First, upgrade that RAM to at LEAST 512mb, more preferably. They can hold a max of 1GB.
Also, stick a new, non-whiny HDD in there. It'll speed things up a lot.

As for the wireless, I wouldn't suggest a USB solution because the Mac drivers usually suck. Try to pick up an original Airport card if possible, those work the best.

    Cool, this helps a lot.

Yep, I only plan to use it for typing, feeding my iPod, email and the like. I have a 120 gig harddrive lying around that I pulled from my pc. I'm going to have to find Tiger somewhere then because this doesn't come with the cd's. I definatly don't want to try and find an original airport, they're expensive and you need the adapters. I tried with my iBook.

It just arrived today. I love it! I'm amazed at how fast this thing is and it only has 320 mb of ram. Can't wait until I can put a gig in! OMG I've missed OS X so much, it's soooo gorgeous. iChat rocks my socks!
