I had the 40D in a shopping cart at B&H, with a few extras (card, battery, the essentials). Added the 5 year protection plan, which would be stupid NOT to buy with a 1400 dollar camera then I see

Not valid in Florida and Oklahoma.

    Well that sucks!

I was hoping to get good coverage plan just in case anything ever happened, and was really wanting to order through B&H as I've dealt with them before on 35mm stuff.

Seems like my next best option is pay 400 dollars more and go to Ritz and get there 2 year shit, doesnt matter if you run over your camera with a bulldozer, they'll fix it :( (was talking to a guy at ritz that ran over his 30d when it was brand new, ritz replaced it no questions asked).

I could get that MACK warranty, but that doesnt cover droppage, water, etc, while ritz does

Is there anywhere else that will over that extended stupidity protection?

    :o

    Found a decent idea.

Circuit City Currently has the cam for 1363.99
Minus an 8% Discount for AAA members = 1254.87
Plus the 299.99 Protection Plan for 4 years = 1554.86
    Plus 7% sales tax (rant) = 1663.70

I'd save roughly 150 bucks doing it that way and I could have it in my hot little hands tomorrow..

Hmm AND their advanced plus plan covers stupidity

just get it insured, the camera isn't likely to break down on its own, it'll be damaged or stolen, either of which those cover. Real insurance is far cheaper aswell

extended warrany plans are usually a waste of money...adding that to homeowners insurance would probably be $20-30/yr and it covers theft and damage

get a personal articles policy, 0 deductible, doesn't hit your homeowners, cheap as dirt

20k of equipment, laptop and wife's ring was less than 200/yr

a protection plan usually is close to that and only covers manufacturers defects

Same here. $14/year for every $1000 worth of coverage. No deductible.

Well, im buying it with 8% discount at circuit shitty tomorrow, decided to get the full kit and just buy better lenses later on, the kit lense will do fine whilst I get familiar with the camera and really choose what I'm going to be shooting and so on.

I havent decided if im getting the protect plan or not... We'll see how I feel tomorrow at the store

cant wait for 6pm tomorrow when i get off work :hyper:

i have 15k worth of insurance for my gear, costs me 146/year thru USAA, no deductible, and it would have been cheaper if i was not a working professional.
