Thanks President Bush!!!
Is this for military personnel who die in combat or in theater?
you dont have to be in combat, if you die in training or just out of blue your covered, im pretty sure
Hrmmm, maybe I should sign up.
Just think how much money I'd have if I died!
You jest, but the insurance payout really helps a soldier's family. The payouts mom got when dad died (they had an addtional $250k through the gubment as well) made it so that I graudated college with no debt. That money, combined with dad's retirement / other benefits, made it so that we were able to continue living in the same style we were used to when dad was alive. This is a good thing. Everyone, military or not, should insure that their loved ones are taken care of after they die. Shit happens, so it's best to be ready for it.
Pretty much covers anyone that dies while on active duty I believe. Dad died from leukemia. Family friend died less than 6 months out of West Point in a tank training accident and his parents got the money.
Agreed, I currently do not have SGLI, I have another whole life policy. I'd rather take the $20 and apply it towards a whole life. Come time to deploy, I will definitely enroll in SGLI. Oh, and my father sells life insurance, so I've been sold for years.
so how much will the monthly payment go up for full coverage? I got the full coverage now, 250k.
I told my fiancee this... she didn't care. Evidently she's not with me for my money she said something about loving me, and she would prefer me over any amount of money. odd.
Okay - that right there deserves some good lovin' time. Maybe even sex for longer than 5 minutes!
Okay I joke. But she definitely passed the "do you love me for my wallet" test.
