Well. I have about $500 to spend on guns if i want. I'd like to keep it under that. I'm thinking ruger mkII or MKIII 5.5" bull bbl. Anyone have any other ideas for a decent .22? I think i'm also going to build up another 10/22.

I'm also open to two pistols, but I definately want one to be a .22.

oh, and i have the best gf in the world. This is what she got me for my birthday/christmas:[IMG]

And as a Christmas gift to myself, I got some Sig P226 Mags with x-grip extenders to put over them. So now i have 17+1 in a P228 Package. Not too bad. I also added the Houge wraparound grips, which i love, and the allen head grip screws.

I've always like the Walther P22. If not that then the Sig Mosquito would be a very close 2nd.

I'd go beretta neos (although, I heard they've stopped production of the 7.5" model) then sig mosquito, then P22. Never owned a Ruger MkII / MkIII, but heard good things about them.

My neos never disappoints, but some don't like its styling. the mosquito is good, but mine was picky about ammo for until I found what it liked.

  5. THe walther is nice, but I'd definately go with one of the Rugers.

I think i'm decided between the ruger, sig mosquito, or browning buckmark as far as .22 pistol...

I've heard the p22 is pretty damn small, and with my bear paws, i'll need something a bit bigger. Aftermarket support is pretty good with the Ruger, but the sig is most similar (sa/da) for comparable training with my 228. I think i'm gonna hit up the gun shops in my area, or wait for a gun show to pickup and feel what i like. My parents have an old school Ruger Standard, not even a MKI, and I've played with it, but it isn't accurate. I'll look more into the neos

What should i be paying for say the sig mosquito, or the ruger 5.5 in slabside or bbl in MKII or MKIII?

I own a Ruger 22/45 MKIII. Best damn .22 pistol in the world, period.

The best part about the 22/45 is that the grip angle and controls are the same as a fullsize 1911, so you can train for cheap on the 22/45 but still feel like you're shooting a 1911 minus all the power. It's great when you're like me and can't afford to blast through 300 rounds of .45 everytime I go to the range.

Ruger MKII/MKIII or Sig Trailside if you can find a nice one.

..............I have a Ruger MKIII 22/45 with a 3" bbl and really like it for the price. I think I paid $219 for it new. Tactical Solutions also makes some nice barrels for the Rugers if you decided to mod it.

I ended up getting a Ruger MKIII 22/45 Hunter. It's pretty nice and fits me well.

6 7/8" Fluted Stainless Barrel. Hi-Vis Fiber Optic Sights. Polymer frame(my first polymer pistol). And all the other MKIII stuff.

Got it for $385 plus tax. It's definately below suggested retail, so i don't think i did too bad. But how'd I really do?

I had a few options but after holding both in the shop, the 22/45 had a better/more natural grip angle than the regular MKIII. It seemed like the metal frame models had too far forward of a cant or grip angle. The big decision was between a Blued MKIII 22/45 for $260 or this for $385. The Hunter had better balance, and more features so I went with it. I've also heard good reviews about the Hunter version.

I have a MK II 22/45. Shot it for the first time yesterday. Damn, havent had that much fun in months. Shoots very accuratly, only 1 FTE out of 250-300 rounds of walmarts cheapest shit. I love mine, though I may also pick up a P22 if one comes available...
