I think it'd be cool just for the urban exploration, shooting any mutant creatures would just be an added bonus.

Since you'd probably know better then anyone else here, how long could you safely stay in the area with those numbers on the gieger counter?

I wouldn't want to camp there but spending a few hours exploring the area would be fun. Not like I plan on having kids anyway :o

I almost didn't click on this thread. Now I am glad I did.

You should post this in the main forum. That was the best video / coverage of Chernobyl I have ever seen.

PS Activision did a kickass job on COD4 with the sniper part and Chernobyl.

    :werd: :ugh:

That was an INTERESTING video but full of ignorance. It pretty much irritated the crap out of me. :ugh:

Still. Would've liked to have seen the pics of the boars.

It would take me a little while to figure out an exact number, and I'd want some quality factors, but that wouldn't really change that you wouldn't want to be there unless you had no choice.

    Potassium iodide

That's only to prevent airborne radioactive iodine (I-131) intake to your thyroid. It won't do much for the general area dose from the massive widespread contamination and the reactor itself.

There really aren't any lay terms for radiation exposure.

If you're nervous about being there, imagine eating plants and animals from the area!

According to the internets, an X-ray is about 1000 mrads (or 1.0 on the counter in the video.) And you know how long that machine buzzes for, right? Maybe 1/2 second? So they're just walking around in that environment. Stupid stupid.

And the guy asking the cause of the incident? I usually do some research before I go on a trip. I would DEFINATELY do some research before I took a vacation to the site of the world's worst nuclear disaster. :uh:
