MODS: Feel free to delete if you think this violates any rules...this is meant to gauge interest in materials for DIY sheaths/holsters and help disseminate information on the topic.

I have access to Kydex in varying thicknesses/colors if you are inclined to make your own custom sheath or holster. If this sounds interesting or you have any questions on how this would work, post in this thread.

Probably black, and it's a DIY, so whatever the cost of kydex for you.

If you can think of a color, I can find it (or one damn close to it)...price would depend solely on how big the necessary pieces of Kydex would be, and the shipping cost. If you have a color in mind, let me know.

I have Kydex. You can make sheaths and holsters out of Kydex. I thought there might be those who would like to make their own custom colored sheaths/holsters.

I might be interested.... what's the price of some kydex roughly? I mean are we talking $2 or $50?

And how involved is the method? Just heat it and wrap it?

Here, all will be clear. http://www.paracordsecrets.com/articles/35/article.html

Basically, you heat it up until its pliable, wrap up whatever you're making a holster for to shape it, give it a few minutes to cool off and harden, then drill and place screws or rivets around the edges to hold it together.

With a little creativity, it's possible to make simple things without even using hardware. Very basic tools like a heat gun and some rivet hand pressing tools will probably cost about $50 all told.

I've got Kydex in about any color/thickness you could want, let me know what you're looking for and I'll get on it. PMs may not be the best way to reach me, if my inbox is full give me some time to get it cleaned out.

I would be interested in some. I am assuming all I need is an old toaster oven to warm it up and possibly a heat gun?

Roger. If you're going to use the toaster to heat the entire sheet, you'll want to grab some of the foam to form it with. You can get away with just a sheet of it and skip the press to start out. Either compress by hand, or glue the foam to some plywood, etc.

I actually rarely have used the foam/toaster unless it was a big piece of kydex. For my holsters, I've just used the heat gun and heated what I needed as I went.

Hmm now if I need the toaster I assume the toaster would be non food safe after using it.
