No more K98s at Big 5, eh? I'd like to pick one of those up, too. Off to the CGN Marketplace...

I want a Mauser someday...I'd heard a couple months ago that there is/was supposed to be another run of them + ammo coming in-country, but I guess I either missed out or it didn't happen :wtc:

Holla. I love my Turk. I have a Turk bayonet too that I picked up at a gun show.

My firing pin broke so I replaced it with a K98 pin and a new Wolff 22# (I think) spring. EVERYTHING goes off now :mamoru:

I should do this, too. Some of my ammo (forget which country of origin it is) requires 2 strikes to fire about %20 of the time.

I have 2 K98's, 1 is a shooter the other I've shot but mostly stays in the safe its in pretty nice shape. My Mosin's get shot more frequently cause I have alot more x54r ammo.

Yeah, not a problem now at all. Plus, it gives it a nice crisp "snickety" action.

my firing pin and spring are great. when i first got the gun, there was so much cosmo in it that when you pulled the trigger the pin just oozed forward.

after a complete soak + clean in paint thinner and hot water, i get a clean, crisp CLACK on every trigger pull :bigthumb:

I used to have a beat-up Sweedish Mauser I got for $80. Actually the first gun I ever bought. It was a POS though and I don't really miss it.

You don't hear much about 7x57 though. :o
