Thought I'd add some fuel to the fire:

    Got this in yesterday.

Got this in today, wonder what is in it?

    Here's a hint.

    Put it together.

Lets see whats in the paper.

Went out, shot it, not too bad on the accuracy at 25 meters, didn't get to play long, found it has some sort of extraction problem causing the empty cases to get stuck in the chamber after firing. Looked at it when I got back, stuck a bore brush for a .410 in it and cleaned it up (looked like some debris was stuck in there). We'll see how it does later, maybe tomorrow. Felt like shooting my M4gery, only lighter, muzzle blast was nil, and it came back on target quickly. Only wish I didn't have to deal with the paperwork to stick a stock on it, bet it would rock with a CTR.

DPMS 7" Kitty cat upper with a RRA BCG.

Kinda want to put a quad rail gas block on it, would be easy since I already have a YHM flip up BUIS. I'd rather have an Aimpoint, but that would go on my M4gery first.

I never understood the aimpoint following. The eotech is just so damn practical!

I bought my 552 this week and finally got a chance to zero it in today. LOVE IT!

Looks good. Why the third position for the safety switch?

well, I may have an answer to your extraction problems. What kind of ammo were you shooting? Was it .223 spec or 5.56x45 NATO spec? If it was NATO spec ammo, that most likely was the problem, as DPMS, even when they claim to have 5.56 chambers, often specs them for .223 ammo. If it was 5.56, by all means try it again, but if it still doesn't like to fuction properly, try some .223 instead.

And you wonder why you were having problems

wolf is to inconsistent to reliably cycle that short of a gas system/barrel combo. Try some American made brass case stuff and report back.

I bought some wolf for my ar and it would constantly leave the casing in the chamber. My friends cycles it fine, but his cousins ar hates wolf like mine. I'll stick to remington umc or whatever else I can find for cheap that is brass cased.

Well my M4gery cycles it fine, besides, when I say stuck, I mean, I had to stick a cleaning rod down the chamber and hammer on it with a lot of force to get it out, almost like it was out of spec. When the extractor would get a hold of the casing it would take me and a friend to pull the charging handle back, plus the casing would still be stuck in there. I looked in it last night, and it looked like there was something like varnish in the chamber, so I brushed it out, looks a lot cleaner, gonna see how it does today.

Could you still cycle the empty brass out, or would it get stuck like I'm describing?

I mean, if I have to switch to brass only for this one then I'm fine with that, I just want to make sure that it really is the ammo and not something wrong with the gun.

Haven't checked, plus it would take forever, it only does it like every 40th round. I spent some time last night doing it with a pair of snap caps I have, but I think they are made slightly smaller then standard ammo.

Right at $700, but that doesn't include mags as I already have a bunch from my other rifle.

Pretty simple actually, you can build it just like any other AR, but you can't stick a stock on it unless you SBR it, and you have to buy a pistol only receiver. There is a way to use a stripped rifle receiver, but you have to jump through some hoops from what I understand and it's not worth the extra $10 you save by not buying a pistol marked receiver IMO.

    I shoot at www.austinrifleclub.org

In other good news, just got back from the range a few minutes ago and the jamming problem seems to be fixed, ran 120 rounds through it without any problems. Which is way better then yesterday.

So I can find a pistol only receiver, and put any length barrel I want on it? I guess the receiver itself is registered as a pistol, but you can set it up for .223? Is there any different laws or rules other that the lack of a stock that I should be aware of?

Yeah, in fact, I just talked to a dealer a week ago that is going to have some Superior Arms pistol receivers for $157 at the Saxet show this coming weekend. You can run .22, 9mm, .223 out of them if you want. My receiver says "multical" on it. AFAIK you can run any length barrel on it as long as it is a pistol receiver and doesn't have a stock on it.
