You may know that Wisconsin is one of only 4 states that completely denies the right for concealed carry, but I have a good feeling this time around :x:

For most states Colleges are not considered federal property.

It may be against the rules to carry at your school but it may not be against the law.

Keep in mind that I am not a lawyer and this should not be considered legal advice.

    Good luck WI!

No, it's state owned, not federal. Most states allow universities to ban firearms, if they don't explicitly ban them in the law itself.

Actually, does anyone know of a state university that does allow concealed carry?

So is this a "shall issue" bill, or can they just refuse to issue and essentially nullify the law?

most state colleges ban firearms on campus. if you have one, you can lock it away with the campus police, usually.

Depends on the state laws. Here you can carry on school property IF you have permission from the school authorities. Some states prohibit it entirely, and some states allow it.

I went to SDSU. You cannot have a loaded weapn on school grounds. You can bring a gun onto campus i.e. a shotgun in a gunrack in your backwindow :o , but it cannot be loaded. Furthermore, the residence halls don't allow for any firearms in them at all. You're supposed to leave it out in your car.

Yes, they do. SD State law allows for carry at colleges and universities. I attended college in SD, and used a Glock for a prop for one of my speech classes.

Not true. SD state law states that the only places where carry is prohibited are "The holder of a permit may carry a concealed pistol anywhere in South Dakota except in any licensed on-sale malt beverage or alcoholic beverage establishment that derives over one-half of its total income from the sale of malt or alcoholic beverages."
    http://legis.state.sd.us/statutes/DisplayStatute.aspx?Statute=23-7-8.1&Type=Statute

I can't seem to find it now, but there is a clause that says specifically that carry is allowed at colleges and universities.

Also, hello to a fellow former South Dakotan and current Washingtonian!
