    Help a cracka out.

I have a Sigma DG 500 flash can be master or slave, and I have a Canon 430EX speedlight which is a slave.

Is there a trigger that works with different flashes simultaneously or do I have to have the same slave flashes for proper synchronization?

Also, which is one of the best triggers to get for the money?

Nevermind. My Sigma triggers the canon slave perfectly.

But I suppose my one question still stands. Would a really nice trigger power both flases if they were on the same slave channel?

Pocket Wizards will work with any flash. They're reliable as hell and have a range of about 1600 feet. You can also fire your camera remotely with them. They also cost about $150 ea.

Radio poppers just came out and seem to be a good alternative. They're cheaper but I don't know the price.

Cactus triggers may also be an alternative.

$180 for the radio poppers w/ ETTL... sounds like a good deal

Cactus triggers.. you get what you pay for (mostly misfires)

don't the radio poppers just convert your already existing ettl infrared triggers (either a master flash or a st-e2 in canon) by making them work over radio frequencies? they won't actually fire the flashes themselves will they?

The triggers and receivers are sold individually. Needing to spend a minimum for $360+shipping to startup is kinda :coolugh:(to me).

If you're referring to the V2s and trigger, I did the battery mod, and antenna mod. They're both very easy to do if even if you have the tinest bit of experience.

As for the antenna mod, all I did was solider the circuit board on the trigger with a 4" piece of wire I cut from AA battery holder. It almost doubled the range to 200ft or so:mamoru:.

    A CR2 at Radio Shack is $9.99+tax

To modify the receivers to hold AA batteries and buy batteries is cheaper than one CR2 battery. My Cactus triggers were nearly deadd out of the box giving me a ton of misfires. After the battery and antenna mod, they seem fine. It even fires my 430ex, which has been known to produce tons of random fires as well.

once I did my AA mod, all my misfires went away.... I think the problem is once you start loosing any power with the CR2's the misfires start.... And as far as range goes... I've gotten close to 200 ft with my V2's, and I've also rigged them to be able to trigger my camera remotely.

I may have to break down and do these mods. I'm pretty unhappy with the current performance of the cactus triggers.

they help out quite a bit. I started getting some non fires this weekend though, so it may be time for the antenna mod until I have the cash for skyports, or the Radiopopper Jr's finally come out.
