Hey guys, I'm trying to compile a list to help people that are in the market for wireless triggers. What all have you guys seen out there?

Off the top of my head:

    Non-Proprietary
    Cactus (eBay) Triggers (3 types me thinks - 4ch, 8ch, 16ch)
    Pocket Wizards
    Paul C. Buff Cybersyncs
    Elinchrom Skyports
RadioPoppers (Jr.'s too when they come out)
    Flashwaves
    Microsyncs
    Wein Optical Slave attachment

    Proprietary to Canon
    580ex
    550ex
    ST-E2

    Proprietary to Nikon
    Nikon CLS
    SU-800
    SB-800
    SB-900

I know there are a lot more.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks.

There are two variations on the Ebay triggers now. Both have receivers that take AAAs.

The 8 channel one works pretty well. As long as you put in non rechargables in the receiver.

It's needs a full 3 volts to work at a good distance. But it'll sync for me from far enough that I can use 135mm on an APS-C and it'll trigger every time.

When you use Radio Poppers, you have to make sure your flash is e/i-TTL capable, along with a master capable flash.

Yeah , my understanding is that it's more of an extension that eliminates line of site and quite a bit of distance problems with the CLS/eTTL systems

Proprietary to Nikon would be the SU-800 and the CLS system in general. The d70-d700 (all numbers in between) can control SB-600s, 800s, and 900s. The SB-800 and 900 can also act as commanders.

I was looking at them last night. They seem to be getting pretty decent reviews. Some people think that not enough thought went into the design, but they are supposed to be really reliable.

They are actually what prompted me to start this idea. I was just gonna buy some PWs, but now, IDK.

I have a transmitter/receiver, but haven't been able to test them out yet, because I didn't realize that my 285HV was going to have a proprietary PC plug :wtc: Ordered the flash and triggers at the same time

Just need to get some 8mm hotshoe adapters and I'll update with a review :hs:

I've never seen those before, looks like a pretty good price for what they can do :)
