When browsing the net on my laptop it takes several seconds longer to connect to a site then it does on my desktop computer which uses a cat5 cable. my wireless is built into my laptop and i sit on the bed with it, modem is on my desk so maybe 6 feet away? I can go outside with it, still works with a weak signal but same issue takes several seconds longer to connect to a site. Is it just a wireless issue that takes a little longer to connect ?

Try a wired connection on the laptop and see if you still get the delay.

Try the wired connection that peerk suggested. You might find that it is still slower. Could be your processor, virus software, etc.

check to make sure your DNS settings on your wireless card are identical to what is being used by your wired connection.
