ok, i posted this in OT, but it's not getting any attention there....

ok, so i have two PCs hooked up on a network here at my house. one pc is wired to the router, and the other one isn't. on the pc that's wireless, everytime i go to log into something with a password, it keeps telling me that it's being sent over an unencrypted network. what the hell is going on? i know i enabled the security stuff when i configured the router.

    help please.

it's a linksys 802.11g wireless router and a linksys wireless usb adapter

I assume you mean everytime you try to type a password on a web site you get the message. If that is true is has nothing to do with your wireless network its a problem with the browser/software on the computer.

I agree with Keyzs. Internet Explorer operates on the application layer of the TCP/IP stack and has no way of knowing whether you are connected to a wired network or a wireless network. Check your IE settings. (Or whatever browser you use.)
