I live in an area that has a wireless internet connection. Is it really as simple as buying a wireless network card and installing it? My dad brought his laptop in when he visited, and he was able to use the wireless network in our area without any problem.

if it's unsecured and an "open" connection, then yes it's as easy as installing the wirelesscard/software and connecting.

but keep in mind stealing other people's internet but connecting to them is illegal, whether they are secure or not. and if you are on an unsecured wireless connection that is not protected, it is very possible for others to connect to YOU and screw with your computer. chances are if you just "plug and play" your wireless internet, you have NO SECURITY.

please tell me you're not trying to jack someone elses internet... cause that would be something a douchebag would do.
