not enough info. Sounds like your wireless card is not configured.

Try this in a console (echange wlan0 for whatever your interface is):

    iwconfig wlan0 mode managed

    ifconfig wlan0 down

iwconfig wlan0 essid [Name of Network] key [your network key]

    ifconfig wlan0 up

    dhcpcd wlan0

yep did all of that already before (my interface is wlan0 btw)

it says something like NO DHCPOFFERS received
No working leases in persistent database - sleeping

disable wep and enable ssid broadcast to test.

Is this Wi-Fi card able to obtain a DHCP lease in another operating system? If not, check your router settings - specifically, make sure it's broadcasting DHCP offers; also make sure you're in range of the router.

the wi fi card is a pci card
    Hawking HWC54G
    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HardwareSupportComponentsWirelessNetworkCardsHawking

check out that link, it says it's supported but u need to
Copy FwRad16.bin from driver CD in to /lib/hotplug/firmware and remove all other firmwares from that directory. Note that filename is case sensitive.

i dont get the point of that ^ i tried erasing everything in the folder and just having FwRad16.bin in there but it didnt help so maybe i am not "installing it right?" even though ubuntu detects it
