My friends and I are all freshmen living in a dorm at California State University Channel Islands. Our only inconvinience so far is internet related. I have a limitted knowledge of computers, but apparently the wireless network (which is all that is available in our dorm) is heavily firewalled to the point where all we can use it for is internet browsing on IE or Firefox. It will not even allow simple applications like AIM or other messenger services. We have tried speaking with the campus tech support, but the general message has been "we want to help you, but the rules say we can't". Most of us being online gamers, one could imagine our frustration.

My question is are there any options for purchasing our own wireless broadband service? The four of us could split the cost, but it would have to be somewhat reasonably priced.

    $60/month

one computer would have the card installed, then can wire himself into a router to share with the other computers

couldnt tell you as ive never used their service before. all i know is im working on building part of their network infrastructure right now. and that Sprint gave them a billion dollars towards wimax integration and new site builds.
