Last winter was my first with the Volvo. The combination of rwd, turbo charger, and stick shift, on top of a fairly light rear end made it, well, interesting. I tried putting 300+ lbs of sand in the back, but that did very little but provide something for me to lay down when I got stuck. What is this board's opinion on snow tyres, are they worth it? I found a set of Gislaved Nord Frost II mounted on Volvo steel wheels for $240, but I have never heard of this brand. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

hakkapelitas for volvos... my moms is AWD and turbo, but they work really well, tons of grip. could go for studs, but they kill the traction if you drive on a non-snow or ice surface.

    Nokian Hakka Q'2 =

Most winter tires are going to be WELL worth it. I'm extremely happy with the hakka q's. They are basically a winter tire, but unlike other winter tires, they handle and wear very very well on regular ashphalt.

Winter Tires are the only way to go. I use Dunlop Winter Sports myself, but I have heard nothing but good things about those Nokians.

Source for Hakkas? i need something for the Rado.

My uncle put some Blizzaks on his Jetta last winter. Difference was like night a day in the muck and it wasn't that bad a ride on dry road either.
