I live in a frozen wasteland, and need to clean mah car. I can use the drive-thru's (and normally do in the winter), but how do I clean the rest of the car? I can clean the interior in the garage if I use a heater, but how do I clean the engine? I fear getting water into a bad place and having it freeze. Do I just go to a car wash and use the soft spray? I've got so much winter sand and salt under the hood and I need it to go away. Help!

Just clean the engine at the coin op, then let it run with the hood closed while you spray off the outside of your car. By the time you finish, your engine and bay should be pretty dry.

Just hose down the engine bay? Should I prep w/ anything? Like a good degreaser or something?

Degrease as needed, just thought you wanted to get rid of the salt and crap.

Hot tar works as a great engine degreaser as well and as it dries it leaves behind a nice satin finish.

    lol.

you can use the yellow tire wash as an engine cleaner. when i engine clean at the quarter car wash, i hit it with the tire cleaner, let it sit while i presoak the rest of the vehicle, then come back by with the high pressure soap. then rinse and spot free accordingly.
