i've been procrastinating on a fresh install for about two monthes longer than i meant to. :hs:

Now i'm paying for it. ME is simply freezing randomly. Sometimes 2 minutes, sometimes 30 minutes. No errors, nothing. Keyboard and mouse just stop responding and the computer drops off the network. :(

i know that's vague, but anyone have any suggestions so i might be able to get my back up done faster?

i did just add a 120gb HDD, only change that really comes to mind. But i yanked that, and ME still locks up without it, so i don't think that's the cause.

you got a virus.... its called the WinME virus. remove it, toss on a REAL os, and youll be good to test it out if its hardware or not. (Use 2k, its super stable for testing)

I would have to agree with the previous posts. If you really want the coputer to perform better then you might want to consider a new OS for it.

    i read as:

    "i have no fucking clue."

"i really have no fucking clue."

    "Neither does my girlfriend."

    "^What he said."

Maybe we what we are saying is that there is a simplier solution to the problem.

You even said that you have been wanting to do a fresh install. What we are saying is do a fresh install except with a different OS.

no, i think they're trying to say that WinME sucks and I, along with a gajillion other people, agree with them. The best solution here is to install 2000 or XP. if u dont wanna believe that, well.... :dunno:

Yeah, if this PC doesn't have the *cough*balls*cough* I mean hardware to run XP, then toss some flavor of Win9x - any flavor will do. Anything other than WinME will be fine.

Sounds silly, but check to make sure all the fans are spinning too. Maybe the PC is cooking itself.
