    hahaha typical wing chun answer

how's this: I think that the trapping game, trained properly in conjunction with other techniques, and be a useful addition to someone's clinch game.

does that make your wing chun feelings hurt a little less?

it's not a style you would have heard of but I trained shaolin kung fu for 10 years and have been training for 3 in a style that trains in all the ranges (striking, close quarters, wrestling, grappling) and both sport and self-defense scenarios.

the style I currently train is called 'mushin dao' and is only trained at my dojo, it's the result of my instructors combined years of training in many different styles.

the kung fu i practiced was called "northern shaolin praying mantis" under master yun yang wang, under grandmaster victor cheng (I believe is how it's spelled, it's been years)

is there a point to this thread?

you came into a combat sports forum asking about wing chun, I'm fairly confident nobody here trains it.

i googled mushin dao looks like a good mix of many arts. I have nothing against mixed martial arts but i do have a question (i train in Wing chun the only other stuff i know is some basic ground stuff) How long does it take to master an MMA like mushin dao?

that's why I'm always hesitant to put up the name of my style.

we're NOT an mma gym, we don't prime fighters to compete in MMA. we mix elements of martial arts but we are NOT a Mixed Martial Arts dojo.

your whole mentality of mastering MMA is false. you will have to train hard in all the ranges and find what works best for you.

    here's what you do broseph.

you google MMA, BJJ, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Machado, etc in your local area.

go to the gym, take the free class, try to use ANYTHING you've EVER trained in wing chun with any effectiveness.

I promise you will change your mind about wing chun real fast.

be careful tho, many wing chun sifu's will ban you from their school if you check out another academy

unfortunately for everyone out there who trains in more than one art, you can't call yourself a mixed martial artist just cuz you train in aikido and tae kwon do. saying "I do mixed martial arts" means you train and compete in the sport of mixed martial arts.
