What is the best way to maintain the paint on the wipers? Should it be cared for in the same manner as other paint?

Usually, the paint is a semi-gloss or flat black to cut down on reflection and regular wax won't really do anything for it. You can use a trim/rubber product if the wipers are plastic.

I usually put a bit of those 'Back-to-black' products on a piece of towel and apply it, be careful, this is greasy and won't look too good on your winshiled :o

    Any suggestions for metal?

I'm not so much worried about shine, I just don't want them to fade and start chipping...
